Injustice "The Other Wes Moore"

 What is the meaning of injustice? Injustice is basically the lack of fairness, and in “The Other Wes Moore” it portrays a narrative with threads of injustice. Wes Moore sheds light on the systemic injustices that affect individuals, and the unequal access to education and opportunities. The author grew up in a supportive environment and had access to quality education. On the other hand, the other Wes Moore faced way more obstacles in life which included a lack of educational resources, and positive role models which led him to go down a devastating path. The imbalance in opportunities exemplifies how injustices hinder social mobility and continues the cycle of crime and or poverty. 

 

                                    

Another form of injustice that was mentioned in the book is the impact of the criminal justice system. Based on the other Wes Moore’s experience with the criminal justice system it reflects how harsh it could be. The author highlights how things such as racial profiling, inadequate legal representation, and harsh sentencing all contribute to injustice within the criminal justice system. The book also mentions the role of socioeconomic inequality in perpetuating injustice. This book is a great narrative that brings attention to the multifaceted nature of injustice within society.

One big unfair thing in the book is how schools can be different for different people. Wes  John Moore goes to good schools and gets a lot of help from his family and teachers. But the other Wes Westley Moore doesn't have the same luck. His schools aren't as good, and he doesn't have as much help. This shows us that where you live and what kind of school you go to can make a big difference in how well you do in life.

Another unfair thing is how the justice system treats people. Wes Moore ends up going to jail, and it doesn't really help him change his life for the better. Instead, it makes things even harder for him. This happens a lot to people, especially Black people, who are treated unfairly by the justice system. It's not right that some people get punished more just because of their skin color.

Family and friends also play a big part in how people turn out. Wes John Moore has a supportive family who helps him make good choices. He also has mentors and other people who encourage him to do well. But the other Wes Moore doesn't have that. He doesn't have as much support from his family, and he gets mixed up with the wrong crowd, which makes it harder for him to stay out of trouble. Even though there's a lot of unfairness in the book, it also shows us that people can still make their own choices. Both Wes Moores have to make decisions that shape their lives, even when things are really tough. The Other Wes Moore" helps us see how unfairness can really affect people's lives and push them in different directions. It makes us think about how we can make things more fair so that everyone has the chance to do well.

By reading what I read in the book I can say that it challenges readers to really examine the complexity of the systemic issues there are. “The Other Wes Moore” stands as a powerful testament to endure that we are standing up against oppression. This book is like a reminder of the collective responsibility we have to bear in the fight against injustice.
